Business Development Manager

Reports to: Director of Commercial Operations

Location: Yellowknife, NT

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving business growth through strategic sales, marketing, and client relationship management initiatives. This role focuses on identifying new business opportunities, expanding existing accounts, managing customer relationships, and promoting company services within the aviation industry. The Business Development Manager will also oversee branding initiatives, support proposal development, and lead the Business Development team to achieve organizational sales and profitability objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Sales

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients. 
  • Conduct sales calls and identify new business opportunities. 
  • Expand and manage the current customer account base. 
  • Promote company services and capabilities to targeted markets. 
  • Understand client operational requirements and expectations related to helicopter services. 
  • Maintain ongoing customer engagement and support following service delivery. 

Marketing & Branding

  • Develop and implement strategic marketing and branding initiatives aligned with corporate objectives. 
  • Prepare marketing and promotional materials for clients and industry events. 
  • Develop innovative sales and promotional strategies, including trade shows, brochures, and presentations. 
  • Attend industry trade shows, conferences, and networking events to promote company services. 

Proposal & Partnership Management

  • Review and evaluate RFP/RFQ opportunities and coordinate proposal submissions. 
  • Collaborate with Indigenous/Aboriginal partners to identify and leverage business opportunities within partnership regions. 
  • Educate clients on company services through presentations, demonstrations, and consultations. 

Leadership & Reporting

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and supervision to the Business Development team. 
  • Maintain accurate records of customer interactions and sales activities. 
  • Prepare monthly activity reviews, sales updates, and management reports. 
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • High school diploma (Grade 12) required. 
  • Post-secondary education in Business, Marketing, or a related field is considered an asset. 

Experience

  • 3–5 years of related business development, sales, or marketing experience. 
  • Aviation industry experience is considered an asset. 
  • Previous leadership or management experience preferred.

Technical Requirements

Software Proficiency

  • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher) 
  • Canva or other creative design platforms 
  • Aviation operational and maintenance software applications 

Licenses

  • Valid driver’s license required. 

Working Conditions

  • Primarily office-based environment. 
  • Regular travel may be required. 
  • Frequent interruptions and high activity during peak operational periods. 
  • Duties performed primarily indoors.
